What happens when we stop rushing through the world and actually pay attention to it?
In this episode of Creatively Curious Conversations, we start with Sarah's recent training as a forest bathing practitioner and a deceptively simple practice: sit somewhere in nature, notice what's in front of you, and ask yourself how does this make me feel?
From there, the conversation goes somewhere much bigger.
We explore the difference between simply being outdoors and giving nature our full attention; why our brains need periods of quiet; and how creating that space can allow our own thoughts, creativity and sense of direction to surface. As Sarah puts it, nature doesn't necessarily give us the answers — it creates the space in which we can hear our own.
We also talk about writing, creative absorption, mindfulness versus meditation, the importance of bringing your humanness to the page — and whether it's actually possible to teach a Beagle to meditate.
It's a conversation about attention: what changes when we stop skimming across the surface of our lives and begin to really notice what's there.
Creatively Curious Conversations brings together Karen Chappell and Sarah Clayton — two different perspectives, one shared curiosity about what helps us move from shut down to fully fledged.
