I’m developing PhysicsFlow, a 2D physics tool for Maxon Autograph. Over the past few days, I’ve been implementing a collider system that allows users to choose an appropriate collider based on the shape and complexity of each layer. The currently supported collider types are: Auto: Automatically analyzes the shape and selects an appropriate collider Box: A fast and simple rectangular collider Circle: A collider optimized for circular objects Convex: A convex polygon collider that follows the shape’s actual outline The Convex collider reads the actual outline of an Autograph Shape and uses it for collision calculations. It also combines layer and internal shape positions while accounting for scale and rotation. During development, I encountered issues such as hexagonal colliders being oriented differently from their visible shapes and tilted hexagons stopping unnaturally on a single vertex. I addressed these problems by improving the resting-state logic so that objects only come to rest when their contact geometry and center of mass indicate a stable position. The next step is implementing Concave colliders. The goal is to support natural collisions within recessed areas and internal spaces of more complex shapes. PhysicsFlow is intended to become more than a simple falling-object demo. The goal is to build a practical 2D physics authoring environment for real-world motion graphics workflows. #MaxonAutograph #PhysicsFlow #2DPhysics #MotionDesign #PluginDevelopment #FlowSoft
