Ep 09 | Munda Biddi at 65 - Collie to Wellington Forest Cottages

Episode 09 of Solo at 65 – The Munda Biddi Journey. This day delivered stunning scenery - but the trail insisted I work hard for every view. Much of the riding became hike-a-bike, with long stretches of narrow, steep, winding singletrack and countless switchbacks to walk down. Overhanging branches and tight lines kept things slow and deliberate. I started the day in good spirits, but as the hours passed, fatigue began to creep in. Lunch at Nglang Boodja Hut came with an unexpected soundtrack - thousands of buzzing bees in flowering trees - a small reminder of just how alive the forest was around me. The day ended on a high at an old three-bedroom cottage in Wellington Forest, shared with two couples I’d met along the trail. Sitting around an open fire with friends, a glass of red wine, and even a curious local kangaroo nearby, the effort of the day finally made sense.
