Why It's So Hard to Clear Out a 100-Year-Old Japanese Family Home

I'm slowly clearing out the 100-year-old Japanese house where I grew up before it's demolished. This time, I cleared out an old sideboard and a wardrobe, moved some belongings into a new storage room, and took unwanted items to a local waste disposal center. There are many things I'd rather get rid of, but some are hard for my mother to part with. I'm trying to respect her feelings, even when it means moving things instead of letting them go. No matter how much I clear out, there always seems to be more to do. I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling to clear out a family home.
