EOT 437 Raleigh's Fourth Ward District

Raleigh's new Fourth Ward District ( https://raleighnc.gov/news/city-desig... ), focusing on the entertainment block in the south downtown area, is named to commemorate and honor the Fourth Ward neighbourhood, a Black community that was destroyed in the 1970s. In this episode, Autumn Smith talks with Haley Kinsler, a PhD student at NC State and a member of the Fourth Ward Oral History Project ( https://www.fourthwardhistory.org/ ) to highlight the history of the area and community effort to preserve the memory of Fourth Ward. Before that, WKNC public affairs creator Sydney Semel provides a weekly news summary, highlighting Raleigh efforts to address homelessness and how NC State plans to combat climate change. Eye on the Triangle is a podcast produced by WKNC 88.1 FM HD-1/HD-2, student-run radio from NC State University. Like what you hear?
