Backend Engineering #10.2 — Apache Kafka Part 2 | Spring Boot Practical Integration In this session, we take our Kafka fundamentals and actually build and run a Kafka + Spring Boot integration end-to-end. We cover: • Setting up Kafka locally using Docker • Creating & configuring Kafka Topics • Topics & Partitions in practice • Kafka Producers with Spring Boot • Kafka Consumers with Spring Boot • Consumer Groups • Message Keys & Partitioning • Offsets • Serialization & Deserialization • Running the complete Producer → Kafka → Consumer flow • Inspecting Kafka messages using Offset Explorer • Understanding partition-level ordering • Understanding how Kafka fits into a real backend architecture We build a working practical example where a Spring Boot application publishes ticket events to Kafka and a consumer service receives and processes those events. In the second half, we move from the small practical implementation to a real-world Chat Platform architecture and see how Kafka can be used as the backbone for event-driven communication between different services. We look at how Chat Events can flow through Kafka and then be routed to services such as ML, Workflow, User Management, Analytics, Notification and Inventory. The goal is to connect the Kafka concepts from Part 1 with how Kafka is actually used when designing real backend systems. Integration Guide: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WEvQ...
