Sin is not a crime that needs retributive punishment; it is a mortal sickness that needs divine healing. The real enemy isn't God’s wrath; it’s death and the paralyzing fear of death that holds us in bondage. The Carpenter didn't come to pay a debt to Himself; He came as the Great Physician to absorb the sickness of human mortality and restoration our nature by uniting it with his own incorruptible life. Salvation is not a legal pardon; it is theosis—the beautiful, ongoing process of being filled with the energies of God until we can say with total peace, "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me."
