Never Thought I’d Be Bald | Alopecia & conversation: mixed media art #alopeciaawareness

🎨✨ MIXED MEDIA + ALOPECIA AWARENESS 👑 In celebration of Alopecia Awareness Month, I created three mixed-media art pieces focused on creativity, confidence, beauty, and self-expression. I wanted each piece to show how different materials can completely transform an image while still celebrating the beauty that was already there. 💜 🎨 For these mixed-media pieces, I used: • Acrylic paint • Canvas panels • Permanent markers • Acrylic gems and rhinestones 💎 • Synthetic curly hair • Artificial flowers 🌸 • Artificial leaves 🌿 • Hot glue • Tacky/adhesive glue • Paintbrushes • Pencil for transferring my image For one piece, I adorned the beautiful bald head with acrylic gems—celebrating the bald head instead of hiding it. 👑💎 For another, I added synthetic curly hair and flowers, showing that adding hair can simply be another form of creativity and self-expression. For the third, I incorporated artificial flowers and leaves to create texture, dimension, and a completely different mixed-media look. 🌸🌿 And while I create, I share pieces of my own alopecia journey—going from worrying about hiding my hair loss to learning that my crown can become its own canvas. I can be bald. I can wear braids. I can wear a wig. I can wear flowers, gems, headbands, hats, or headpieces.
