Why is Poolbeg Lighthouse, which sits out in the middle of Dublin Bay, painted red?

This is the first in a series of videos where I visit some well known Dublin tourist hot spots and some less well known ones! I am ashamed to admit that as a Dubliner, I had never visited Poolbeg Lighthouse until very recently. So, I'm delighted to share with you my first ever visit to this red rotund beacon.
