Inside a Date Farm: From Palm Trees to Packaged Dates

Follow dates on their journey from tall palm trees in a hot, dry valley all the way to packaged boxes ready for shops and family tables. Watch how new palms begin as offshoots, how workers pollinate flowers by hand, how the fruit ripens through four stages — Kimri, Khalal, Rutab, and Tamar — and how each bunch is harvested by hand, washed, sorted, dried, pitted, packed, and shipped to markets around the world.
