Isle of Wight Fantasy Steam Railtour (Rail Simulator) HD

Take a fantasy alternate reality steam railway journey across The Isle of Wight off the south coast of England, via Rail Simulator. Best viewed in HD (720p). This journey shows what might have been if the present steam railway had been able to inherit the lines from Newport to Freshwater and from Newport to Ventnor West. After a view of a 1914 railway map. we join the short train pulled by the IOS Steam Railway loco Invincible at Ventnor West. The train heads west along the south coast of the island, before heading north through St. Lawrence Tunnel. Passing the junction with the line to Sandown at Merstone, we head to Newport where the engine runs round its train to the north of the station (towards Cowes), and then reverses, passing the former Newport (FYN) station and then west to Yarmouth and Freshwater. The video ends as it started, with a map of the island's former railway network. The route was recorded using the Island Line route to be found on www.uktrainsim.com. Look around, you'll find it, but you need to register. The route needs the commercial Isle of Wight product. The routes in the west and south of the island were closed in the 1950s, and the rest of the network was severely rationalised in the 1960s leaving a short electrified line from Shanklin-Ryde Pier today, and the steam railway.
