Man Spends 3 Years Transforming 3 Rusty Shipping Containers Into an Incredible Modern Home

After three years of planning, learning, and hands-on construction, Zane transformed three rusty shipping containers into a full-size modern home in rural Florida. The project started with bare land, a lot of uncertainty, and 16 concrete foundation piers. From there, Zane slowly built the house almost entirely by himself — cutting open the container walls, reinforcing the steel structure, framing the interior, installing plumbing, running electrical lines, and solving one problem after another along the way. A huge part of the build happened before the actual construction. Zane spent countless nights inside his RV studying plans, making 3D models, watching tutorials, and teaching himself the skills he needed to keep moving forward. Some stages were especially difficult. Interior framing took far longer than expected, and working underneath the hot steel floor meant days of crawling through tight spaces to install PEX lines, wiring, and other essential systems. He also connected the house to a deep well and carefully routed everything into the right place. Over the course of three years, the three old containers slowly changed from empty steel boxes into a spacious and functional modern home.
