Team New Kent Talks | Episode 22: Investing in Our Students: The NKEF Bowl-a-thon and Beyond

Welcome back to Team New Kent Talks, the official podcast of New Kent County Public Schools, hosted by Superintendent Dr. Brian J. Nichols! In this special episode, we’re stepping beyond our school buildings to spotlight an organization that has been investing in our students and schools for over two decades—the New Kent Educational Foundation! Founded in 2004 by a group of dedicated New Kent County citizens, the New Kent Educational Foundation—or NKEF—was built on a simple but powerful idea: that a community coming together can provide resources and opportunities that make a real difference in the lives of students. From teacher grants and student scholarships to a technology resource library, special projects, and more, the NKEF’s work touches classrooms, students, and families across New Kent County. Dr. Nichols sits down with NKEF President Mr. Alan Files and Bowl-a-thon Chair Ms. Colleen Baxter to discuss the many ways the NKEF invests in our students and teachers. Ms. Baxter also shares everything you need to know about their signature fundraising event—the 20th Annual $trike it Rich for Education Bowl-a-thon, happening Saturday, November 7th from 2:00-4:00 PM at Bowlero Mechanicsville! Whether you’re a longtime supporter of the NKEF or hearing about them for the first time, this episode is a wonderful reminder of the power of community and what’s possible when neighbors come together in support of our students and schools. 🎳 Support the NKEF by donating to the Bowl-a-thon: https://pro.gofundme.com/campaign/202... 🌐 Learn more about the NKEF: https://sites.google.com/a/nkcps.k12.... 👍 Follow the NKEF on Facebook:   / nkeducationalfoundation   📸 Follow the NKEF on Instagram:   / newkenteducationalfoundation   Subscribe to our channel for more stories highlighting the incredible students, staff, and community partners that make NKCPS #AGreatPlacetoLearn.
