Flight #58 8/30/2026

Morning flight at the local field on Sunday 8/30/2026; This one was just a go-out-and-play kind of morning. I'd planned on doing some very low flying, maybe some foot drags in my favorite farmer's field, but it was a little turbulent close to the ground, not too bad, just enough that I didn't want to push my luck today. I also learned something about myself: when I'm planning maneuvers that need my full attention, I shouldn't have music playing. I flew with music today, and it noticeably changes how I fly; certainly not the best choice for trying more advanced techniques, at least not yet for me. Wind was 1-2 mph on the field, so nothing too demanding on takeoffs or landings. But I noticed on landing that I'm still coming in pretty fast and having to run it out more than I'd like when performing the full breaking flare. I'm starting to suspect I'm not using the full range of the flare, this is something I'll need to work on. Overall, it was a nice fun flight.
