Wuppertal, Germany 🇩🇪 — a city unlike anywhere else in Germany, where historic streets, green valleys, modern city life, and the legendary Schwebebahn come together above the Wupper.
Join us on a complete 4K walking tour through Wuppertal as we explore the city on foot, from Vohwinkel and Barmen to Elberfeld, Döppersberg, the historic Hauptbahnhof, Alte Freiheit, Luisenviertel and Laurentiusplatz.
Wuppertal is best known for its iconic Schwebebahn — the suspended railway that has been part of the city since 1901. Running through the valley above the Wupper and along the streets of the city, it has become one of Germany’s most recognizable urban landmarks. The official Wuppertal tourism site describes the Schwebebahn as the city’s world-famous symbol and one of its defining experiences.
But there is much more to Wuppertal than the famous flying trains.
In this 4K Wuppertal walking tour, we move through historic neighborhoods, busy shopping streets, railway stations, squares, churches, monuments, bridges and everyday city life. From the historic Alter Markt in Barmen and the streets around Kaiserstraße in Vohwinkel to Döppersberg and Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, the route gives you a broad look at the different sides of the city.
We continue through Alte Freiheit, Poststraße, City-Arkaden, Schwanenstraße, Neumarkt and Herzogstraße before reaching the historic Luisenviertel, Osterfelder Straße, Landgericht, Luisenstraße, Sophienkirche and Laurentiusplatz.
The final part of the walk brings us back toward Döppersberg and the Schwebebahn, followed by Bundesallee, Vohwinkel and the connection toward Stadtwald and the regional railway.
If you are planning a trip to Wuppertal, researching Germany’s most unusual cities, interested in urban architecture and public transportation, or simply enjoy realistic 4K walking tours, this journey gives you the chance to experience Wuppertal from street level.
Put on your headphones, take a virtual walk through the city, and see what Wuppertal really feels like.
