With soft water reflections, stone cottages, and tree-lined lanes, this walk drifts gently between riverside tranquillity and timeless village charm. It’s the kind of place where nothing rushes you — the village seems to breathe at its own slow, contented pace. 🕰️ Highlights, History & Local Lore St Germans is one of Cornwall’s oldest religious settlements, its roots reaching back to the 9th century. At the heart of the village stands St German’s Priory Church, once a Benedictine monastery and later rebuilt as a parish church after the Dissolution. With Norman arches, ancient stonework, and hushed interior light, it carries nearly a thousand years of quiet devotion within its walls. The village grew around the River Tiddy, whose tidal waters still rise and fall through the creek. Once a working waterway for trade and transport, today it reflects moored boats, overhanging trees, and the soft movement of birds across the surface. The riverside paths are peaceful and shaded, offering constantly changing views with every bend of the water.
