Theatre in the Facebook Generation | Andrew Roblyer | TEDxTAMU

This talk will explore the formation of This Is Water Theatre, the first and only professional theatre company in Bryan/College Station, TX, explain the foundational principles behind its new paradigm for theatre, and chronicle the successes and challenges its work has experienced thus far. More specifically, Andrew talks about his work developing a paradigm that translates principles behind social and mobile media into the theatrical space, breaks down expectations about the spatial relationship between the audience and the performance, and pushes theatrical stories into other media, to put it in more academic terms. Andrew was named 1st place orator of the year when he was a member of the Texas A&M Undergraduate Moot Court Team. He has a strong background in public speaking and debate. He has coached students in speech, debate, and acting for roughly 15 years and has produced multiple national champions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
