Wow... Holy moly! This has been by far by biggest grind my every metric. Girls' Night is definitely my pet favorite max mode game in and the most skill/playtime in, and since I had literally 200 GG rebeats before going into GB, and I seemed to get progress fast, I thought GB wouldn't be that big of a grind. After 3 hours of grinding, I fluked from a ~3:30 all the way to a 6:03. This sealed the deal in my brain that I was going to beat this quickly. I could not have predicted what was in store for me. As I show in the intro, that 6:03 would the farthest mark I'd see for my entire grind up to the completion. It took me 11 hours into the grind to get back to 5:XX, dying at 5:56. I still thought it wouldn't take me too long, but then I proceeded to get hit by late death after late death for days on end. This was extremely frustrating - I think for obvious reasons - but also because GB represented to me that I had broken into so-called "advanced" max mode territory in terms of skill, and even know I knew I had the skill to beat GB for the majority of the grind, . Slowly, the game stopped becoming fun and it felt for like I chore. I was playing out of desperation to the point that I destroyed my hand and I was struggling to do the basic movements consistently. After 14 days of this, I took a 1.5 week long break to reset my mentality and my hand health, which worked bc even though I had to derust for a few days when I came back, I was having fun again, my hand was cooperative, and I was building skill faster. My last few sessions, my hand just felt so consistent at making all of the clicks (this doesn't show in the winning run ironically, where I felt like I played so poorly, but hey =p), and getting to that point felt so empowering. Talking now about the mode itself, first off, it is so so so so fun. I would recommend this mode to anyone, though it will likely be a struggle if you have not tackled anything in this mode's difficulty range. The mode is small, and simple, and tests a variety of mouse-based and brain-based skills. CC to GG to GB is such a fun progression, as the buffs feel natural and simple, but completely evolve and transform the game without making you relearn muscle memory every time. Perma-door break in particular is so fun... It's such a natural idea for a buff, but it changes everything about how you plan out each camera phase, as well as demanding more high-stakes mouse usage (miss a click and oopsies! door is gone xp). It's also so satisfying to memorize Serpent and Swave positions for some reason. Obviously, all of the buffs increase the speed and precision you need with your mouse hand (there more clicks per second and tighter windows to fit them in, and certain misclicks can be really punishing, unlike GG), and some of these buffs increase your brain power, either by making you have to think more about the prioritization or by increasing how much information you have to hold in your memory. However, one part of the difficulty I didn't realize would be so impactful is the endurance and consistency. It's not enough to be good enough to beat GB, the game can be so punishing to mistakes that you have to be uber consistent to make it far, and you have to able to fend off both rage and nerves as you play. This really put my consistency and my mindset to the test, and it's the number 1 think I would warn future victors to brace themselves for. So yeah! This is by far my favorite challenge so far, and the completion really means something to be milestone-wise in terms of my progression as a player, but I am nowhere near done. There remain higher peaks to be climbed, but for now, I can be proud to call myself the girlboss.
