Madrid Solo Travel | What a Slow Travel Week Really Feels Like

Madrid for women who travel slowly — Malasaña, Chueca and the historic centre, explored solo and at my own pace. There's a version of Madrid most guides won't show you — the one you find when you stop rushing between landmarks and just wander instead. In this video, I'm taking you through two very different sides of the city. First, the local neighbourhoods north of Gran Vía — Malasaña with its vintage shops, live music and independent art scene, and Chueca with its own polished, unpretentious energy. These are the streets I chose to actually stay in while I was here, because slow travel isn't about seeing more — it's about belonging somewhere, even briefly. Then we head into Centro — Plaza Mayor, the Palacio Real, the Almudena Cathedral — the historic heart of Madrid that's touristic for a reason. Four hundred years of history doesn't need to be avoided just because everyone else has found it too.
