This week is something a little different, rather than one of my own sleep stories, I am doing a calm reading of The Odyssey (the copy I am reading is written by Alfred Church and was published in 1907, meaning the book is now in the public domain). This is a reading of the complete The Odyssey story. I initially started reading The Iliad and The Odyssey many years ago over on my Dan Jones Sleep Stories YouTube channel, but I struggled with the level of editing I had to do and how difficult these stories are to read (when you are trying to read an out-of-copyright copy). Fortunately recently I found the version of They Odyssey which I am reading here, which is easier to read than the Alexander Pope version I previously was reading. Embark on ancient Greece’s greatest voyage. Instead, he faces a perilous decade-long journey across treacherous seas. To return to his faithful wife, Penelope, and his son, Telemachus, Ulysses must outsmart monstrous creatures and survive the wrath of vengeful gods. From the mesmerizing song of the Sirens and the deadly trap of the Cyclops to the enchanting islands of powerful goddesses, his endurance is tested at every turn. Meanwhile, back in his kingdom of Ithaca, rowdy suitors overrun his palace, plotting to steal his crown. Join me around the campfire as I tell you this ancient tale.
