#Travelvlog #CaliforniaHighway1 #Halfmoonbay #Santacruz #beachboardwalk #Pacifica #Cabrillohighway #Californiacoast #pigeonpointlighthouse #Ritzcarltonresort Highway 1 coastal route from Pacifica to Santa Cruz and back. Scenic views of the Pacific Coast on popular California Highway 1. The 60 mile (96.561 km) drive from the seaside Bay Area suburb of Pacifica, just 18 miles (28.968 km) south of downtown San Francisco is one of the most beautiful in California. There are numerous beaches, mostly secluded on the 60 mile drive. Peace and quite are king along this route. There is bike riding, hiking trails as well as beautiful scenic view points, seal watching and surfers along the ideal California coastline. This is the ultimate drop top, car club or motorcycle club route. The small cities of Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz have so much to offer and are really busy on weekends as a destination stop. During the weekdays it is quite and much more enjoyable to have the coast seemingly to yourself. In Pacifica (pop. 38,984) you will find a Taco Bell on the beach sand with the back patio 50 feet from the water. In Half Moon Bay (pop. 12,834) there is the gorgeous Ritz Carlton Resort Hotel that was featured in the comedy movie, "American Pie." The resort sits on the edge of the elevated coastal land and is an amazing sight to see and one of the most scenic and beautiful hotel resorts anywhere in America. A must see and stop destination. Great Food and wine bar in the hotel with amazing Pacific Ocean views from the outside sitting areas. Golf, Tennis also is offered. There is also a bit of England in Half Moon Bay with an authentic English Pub with a double decker bus and English phone booth outside. Inside you are transported to England with all the livery inside that is all England including candy and souvenirs. The food and beverages also very English. A must road trip pit stop and you can find it right on Highway 1 as you begin to leave Half Moon Bay. Santa Cruz (pop. 64,522) offers and array of things to do and is the biggest of the three cities. The beach boardwalk is extremely popular with Amusement Park rides on the boardwalk and a beautiful secluded boardwalk beach. Beaches in Santa Cruz are plenty! This is a Surfers paradise from Pacifica to Santa Cruz. The other towns worth stopping and enjoying are Pescadero (Beautiful 116' tall Pigeon Point Lighthouse and hostel) and the the central town (pop. 219) north east of the Lighthouse and Davenport (pop. 368), a popular stop for food and drink. Both offer California wine, food and accommodations. I hope you enjoy the video and put this scenic drive on a weekend road Trip!
