Making a Cocobolo Mallet on the Lathe

Hey everyone! This was a quick one day project that turned out pretty nice. The head is made from some 2x2 cocobolo while the handle is made from some leftover maple. I drilled a 1" hole in the head before turning it down on the lathe. Then I turned a matching 1" tenon on the handle that fit perfectly in the mortise. I glue the two pieces together then added a 1/4" brass pin through the head to lock everything in place. I also added leather patches to each end of the head to prevent it from marring anything it hits. The finish is walnut oil. Thanks for watching! Here are products I like to use often in the shop.
