Release Day The 4 Truths That Hit Me Walking Out of Prison After 12 Years The door opens. And nothing is what you imagined. I did 12 years in a maximum-security state prison. I thought about the day I walked out almost every night of those 12 years. I built a picture of it the way a man builds a picture of anything he cannot see yet — from pieces, from hope, from what the movies told me it would feel like. The picture was wrong. Not in the dramatic ways. In the quiet ways. In the ways that hit a man when he is standing at a bus stop three blocks from the gate, with a plastic bag in one hand and nowhere specific to be, realizing he has forgotten which direction to face. This video is about those four quiet truths. What actually happens to a body when the door opens. What happens to the people who were waiting. What freedom sounds like before you adjust to it. And the hardest one — the question of who exactly is walking out. I will tell you what I saw and what I lived. I will not perform relief I did not feel or gratitude I had not yet earned. I explain the water. I do not draw maps of it. If you walked out after years inside — what was the first thing that broke you open, in the good way or the hard way? If you wore the uniform, what did you see in men on their last day? If you waited for someone — what did you wish they had known before that door opened? No names, no case details, nothing that costs you anything. Just the part that might help the next man. 🔔 Please Subscribe #prison #prisonrelease #lifeafterprison #prisonstories #truecrimestories #behindbars #prisonlife #reentry #truecrimes #lifeinprison #convict #prisonsurvival #maximumsecurity
