NOTHING SPECIAL? Just look what I found hiding inside with False Acacia Burl

This was supposed to be a straightforward turning… but this False Acacia (Robinia/Black Locust) burl had other plans. With bark inclusions, soft spots, and paper-thin edges, it pushed me right to the limit. My goal was to turn it into a natural edge winged bowl while keeping every bit of its swirling burl figure, rippling compression waves, and striking sapwood. Along the way, I added some unique curves to the wings for extra detail – a decision that made the job even trickier, but so worth it in the end. Follow along as I tackle the challenges, use shellac and wax to bring the grain to life, and reveal the final piece. It’s one of those turnings that could have gone very wrong… but I’m glad I stuck with it.
