Sword in One Hand, Trowel in the Other

Who are we fighting? Why are we fighting? And how are we supposed to fight? In Nehemiah 4, the people of God were rebuilding the wall when opposition came. They were mocked, threatened, discouraged, and surrounded. They did not abandon the work. They prayed, stood guard, remembered who God was, and kept building. In this message, we are reminded that when God is moving, opposition should not surprise us. But Scripture makes something else equally clear: Our battle is not against flesh and blood. We must remember who the real enemy is, why the fight matters, and how believers are called to respond. We fight for our families. We fight for the next generation. We stand for biblical truth. We pray. We serve and we keep building. Just as the workers in Nehemiah carried a weapon in one hand and worked with the other, the Church is called to defend and build, defending the truth of God’s Word while building strong marriages, strong families, strong children, and a strong church. The enemy may oppose the work, but opposition does not mean we stop!
