SSB: Why does the IO want to know about your past rather than what you do in your future|Col Vineet

Why Does the IO Want to Know About Your Past Rather Than Your Future? | SSB Interview | Col. Vineet Dev, SM In an SSB interview, the Interviewing Officer (IO) often asks questions about your past experiences, childhood, academic performance, responsibilities, achievements, failures, and personal decisions. But why does the IO focus so much on your past instead of asking what you plan to do in the future? In this video, Col. Vineet Dev, SM — Ex-President, SSB Board, Allahabad, explains the importance of past experiences in the SSB interview and how they help the IO understand a candidate's personality, behaviour, and Officer-Like Qualities (OLQs). Your past actions provide real examples of how you have handled challenges, taken responsibility, made decisions, worked with others, and learned from setbacks. While future goals tell the IO what you aspire to become, your past behaviour helps demonstrate the qualities you have developed so far. In this video, you will learn: Why the IO asks detailed questions about your past. How your experiences reveal your personality and Officer-Like Qualities. Why actual behaviour matters more than rehearsed answers. How to answer questions about your achievements, failures, and responsibilities honestly. How to reflect on your past and identify areas for improvement. Remember, SSB is not just about telling the IO what you want to become. It is about helping the IO understand who you are today through your experiences, actions, and choices. 📌 Want Personalised SSB Guidance?
