My plan was to end it off myself and have my son Alex join me for a blast of tunes, but due to a fall I took on Christmas Eve I am unable to play at the moment. Rather than ask another fiddler at the last minute, I asked Alex to put something together and gave him carte blanche to ask whoever he wanted. I know I said I wanted to have new faces this year, but it really doesn’t matter if something this good comes out of it. Alex assembled a wonderful array of fiddlers, some from previous years’ calendars and even some that already contributed this year. There is even someone from Scotland so for today he is an honorary Canadian! And it is wonderful. Huge gratitude to you all for jumping in and making this happen. Thank you so much to everyone for watching and sharing these videos once again this year. This is truly a labour of love and I enjoy presenting fiddlers to people who may not have heard all of them before. Thank you also to all of the fiddlers and their accompanists who took part. Everyone was so willing and eager to contribute when I asked, and I am so grateful to have so many wonderful members in this beautiful fiddle family of mine. May 2021 be doubly wonderful so as to cancel out the crappiness of 2020. The best to you all. Love, Patti PS - I feel that although Arthur is not Canadian, a fun fact is that his town is about 30 minutes from my maternal grandfather’s town in Scotland, and it’s that grandfather who was a terrific accordion player who introduced me to many tunes that I play today.
