The stone is grey and green and cool to touch. One small warm light sits inside it, doing almost nothing against the daylight. Ferns have grown up around the base. Very few notes, and long silences between them — because in Japanese music the space between two sounds is called MA, and it is not an absence. It is the other half of the music.
