Join us as we explore the incredible Makgadikgadi Pans and the ancient granite outcrops of Kubu Island, one of Botswana's most unique and unforgettable landscapes.
The Makgadikgadi Pans are among the largest salt flats in the world, covering thousands of square kilometres. They are the remains of an enormous prehistoric lake that dried up thousands of years ago, leaving behind a seemingly endless expanse of white salt and clay.
While the pans may look dry and solid, appearances can be deceiving. After rain, or even in places that seem firm, the surface can hide deep mud beneath a thin crust. Drive in the wrong place and your vehicle can quickly become bogged, making recovery difficult and sometimes impossible without help. Careful route planning, local knowledge, and staying on established tracks are essential.
Our journey takes us across this remarkable landscape to Kubu Island, a sacred granite island rising from the salt pans and dotted with ancient baobab trees.
Come along as we discover one of Botswana's most extraordinary destinations and experience the adventure of traveling across one of Africa's most unique wilderness areas.
