Here I'm transforming a $1.25 Dollar Tree wooden box into a gorgeous trinket box, using some varnish and acrylic paint skin. The paint skin was created using the run off from one of my vase pours, stretched out into a pleasing composition and allowed to dry on a silicone mat. If anyone is interested in seeing that process, let me know in the comments below!
As far as constructing the box itself, the materials you'll need are:
Paint skin, large enough to cover your top surface of the box
Wooden box (finished or unfinished)
if box is unfinished: liquitex gloss varnish & a acrylic paint to create a stain - or a store- purchased stain of your choice
to glue paint skin: liquitex gloss varnish mixed 3:1 with water
to varnish paint skin: deco art triple thick gloss varnish mixed 3:1 with water
(not shown in video) velvet self- adhesive sheet cut to size for inside bottom of box (it looks classy!)
Tools needed:
Xacto knife
cutting mat
brushes (one narrow, one wider)
large cotton swab for varnishing (or a brush)
