This is the 15th year that these pretty ladies started traveling around the Philippines to see the beautiful provinces in our country. They also began traveling to other Asian destinations. Definitely, this group’s friendship and camaraderie spans decades of love and friendship and I am glad to have been with them on this trip. Bacolod City and nearby provinces are a must —food is so affordable and super sarap that you will never go wrong in any place or restaurant. Check it out! Aida's Manokan Country is located very near SM, in the reclamation area. The place is always full during lunch and dinner time so it is best that you go off-hours. The wait is worth it with very cheap and tasty “inihaw na manok and various chicken parts.” Be ready to be in your comfortable clothes as there is the place is not air-conditioned. Gina's Seafood Restaurant is located in San Juan St. Bacolod City. It is where you can find fresh seafood and meat and cook the way you want it - soup, grilled, fried, sautéed and more. They have a big open space but they also have a room with aircon for guests comfort but with an additional fee. Another “must try” restaurant! Emma Lacson's Empananda is located in Silay, Bacolod where the bakery is housed in an ancestral home. It is a simple gate entrance with a flight of stairs that will bring you directly to their kitchen where batches of empanadas are freshly made. You should always eat and bring home this famous empanada, which is crunchy from the outside and full of tasty ingredients inside. They also offer marzipan pili squares, and lumpia ubod. All these are perfect merienda treats for the family and your barkada. Gary's Place or Punong Gary’s Place is located in Silay. It is a place to unwind and relax for the weekend, maybe after your flight from Manila or before you leave Bacolod. They offer various types of food and the experience of eating under the big and centuries-old trees with wooden tables is something that you need to see. Bacolod’s Chicken House you can’t get enough of chicken inasal so go to Lacson St. and taste the grilled chicken with garlic rice served in banana leaves. It is so good and the price is value for money. The place is air-conditioned unlike in Aida’s Manokan so very comfortable for a big group as well. Sugarcane Juice you can find one at The Ruins Virgie's Toasted Argellanas is another pasalubong that is best paired with your favorite coffee.
