Exploring Isaan: Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thailand. Rain Stops Play.

Join Paul and Bert as they explore Ubon Ratchathani Province in Thailand's Isaan region. The journey begins in sunshine at Luang Phu Cha Pagoda, but the weather soon takes a turn for the worse as we head towards the mighty Mekong River and the mountains of Laos beyond. Along the way, an unexpected discovery takes us to a factory producing beautifully decorated gongs, bells, and statues. We also visit temples and viewpoints, including Wat Tham Khuha Sawan and Wat Sirindhorn, although the increasingly heavy rain begins to interfere with our plans. What starts as a promising day of exploration turns into a battle against the weather. With the rain continuing overnight and into the following day, some visits have to be cut short, and eventually we have to abandon our plans and head north towards Mukdahan. Travel around Thailand rarely goes exactly to plan. Sometimes the unexpected discoveries make the journey, and sometimes the weather has other ideas!
