India’s value fashion market is growing much faster than the overall apparel industry and companies like V2 Retail, V-Mart, Vishal Mega Mart, Bazaar Style Retail and Zudio are riding this shift.
But V2 Retail’s latest numbers raise an interesting question:
*Is the company growing too fast?*
V2 Retail reported around **58% YoY revenue growth in Q1 FY27**, with EBITDA growing around 60% and PAT growing around 70%. But behind those headline numbers, there are several things investors need to look at — store productivity, SSSG, sales per square foot, inventory, margins, working capital and the pace of store expansion.
V2 Retail added **57 stores in Q1 FY27**, taking its total store count to 381. Management is targeting another **170–200 stores during FY27**.
The bigger story is that many of these stores are still immature. A typical store can take several years to reach peak productivity, with sales per square foot potentially moving from around ₹750 to ₹1,200+ as the store matures.
So while the value-fashion opportunity in India is enormous, the real question is whether V2 Retail can maintain its growth while improving the productivity and economics of its existing stores.
