Yabusame is a traditional Japanese Shinto ritual where archers shoot arrows at targets while riding galloping horses. How it works: • Riders wear traditional hunting or samurai-style attire • Horses gallop along a 300-meter track through Tadasu no Mori • Archers shoot at 3 targets without stopping their horses • Hitting a target is met with excitement from the crowd • Traditionally, the successful target can be given as an auspicious good-luck item 👉 It is not simply a “show” — it is a Shinto ritual connected to the Aoi Matsuri. 🙏 Why is it performed? Yabusame is held as a purification and prayer ritual connected to the Aoi Matsuri.
