Cover of Ralph Towner's "Icarus" on solo guitar by Helen Avakian

Now on Helen Avakian's CD "Notes from Helen." Please visit HelenAvakian.com. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music by one of my all time favorite guitarist/composers! I have been listening to and enjoying Icarus on the "Oregon In Performance" album since high school. I once had the amazing opportunity to visit with Ralph Towner backstage at Birdland after a magical Oregon concert, and he showed me his specific voicings for this so I could arrange it for a guitar ensemble I conducted at Dutchess Community College. Eventually I made a solo arrangement. Thanks for listening! Please comment below if you are moved to do so. : ) Video by Ian Wickstead
