Choosing the right air supply for vapour blasting in a home garage or small workshop is a common headache—usually because you're stuck with single-phase power. Since vapour blasting requires a constant, high volume of air, it’s a struggle to find a compressor that can keep up without the constant pressure drops or the overheating issues common with traditional piston compressors. In this video, I’m running through the basics of two single-phase rotary screw compressors I’ve been trying out: a 20cfm and a 30cfm model. The main advantage here is their ability to provide the continuous, steady flow needed for a uniform finish in the blast cabinet without needing the recovery time a reciprocating pump requires. Of course, every setup has its pros and cons, so I’m breaking down the specs and the reality of running these larger units on a standard workshop circuit to see if they are a viable option for your setup.
