In yesterday’s Manipur Assembly session, MLAs and ministers discussed an important and sensitive issue concerning the Arambai Tengol and Village Volunteer Forces (VVF) who emerged as volunteer groups during the crisis that began on 3 May 2023. During the crisis, many volunteers came forward to protect their communities and villages at a time when people felt that the existing security arrangements were unable to provide sufficient protection.
