When Aamir Khan called Pradeep Rawat for Lagaan's Deva after Mukesh Rishi rejected that role

Here is the complete English translation of the text: "Hello, believe me. This is indeed Aamir Khan speaking. May I speak to Pradeep-ji?" Aamir Khan had to say this because Pradeep Rawat's sister simply couldn't believe that Aamir Khan had called her house. In those days, Pradeep Rawat didn't have a mobile phone; there was only a landline at his home. One night around 12:00 AM, the phone rang. His sister answered the call. When the voice on the other end said, "This is Aamir Khan speaking," she thought someone was playing a prank. Pradeep-ji's sister even said, "Why are you misbehaving? Who is this really?" To which Aamir Khan replied, "I am genuinely Aamir Khan, and I want to speak to Pradeep-ji." Still unconvinced, she said, "I don't believe you are Aamir Khan. Please hang up." When she refused to believe him, Aamir suggested, "Do one thing—speak to Uma Shankar Pathik." He then handed the phone to Uma Shankar Pathik. It was from Uma Shankar Pathik that Aamir had obtained Pradeep Rawat's phone number, and Pathik was right there with him when he made the call. When Uma Shankar Pathik spoke to Pradeep Rawat's sister, he assured her, "This really is Aamir Khan. Tell Pradeep-ji to come to Aamir Khan’s office tomorrow morning, sign the contract, collect his check, and only then head to any of his shootings." Uma Shankar Pathik hung up after saying this, but everyone in Pradeep Rawat's house was left utterly astonished. Sleep vanished for the entire family. Around 3:00 AM, Pradeep Rawat returned home from a shoot. Seeing the house lights on, he felt a sudden wave of anxiety, as everyone usually slept by that hour. Anxiously entering the house, he found his sister and parents staring at him in stunned silence. Pradeep-ji softly asked, "What happened?" Everyone blurted out together in excitement, "Aamir Khan called! He is casting you in his next film!" Friends, even though Pradeep Rawat was quite exhausted and sleepy that late at night, his sleep vanished the moment he heard about Aamir Khan's call. He began waiting eagerly for the morning so he could rush to Aamir Khan's office and sign the contract. As dawn broke, Pradeep-ji immediately went to meet Aamir Khan at his office and signed the film Lagaan, where he played the character of Deva. Friends, Pradeep Rawat-ji is no longer with us in this world. He passed away due to cancer at the age of 74 after battling blood cancer. Just a few months prior, it seemed like he was recovering, but his condition suddenly deteriorated, requiring him to be hospitalized for two months. He breathed his last in the hospital. Kissa TV pays tribute to Pradeep Rawat-ji and salutes him. Lastly, you should also know that the role of Deva in Lagaan was initially signed by actor Mukesh Rishi. Mukesh Rishi was almost set to do the film. Although he was extremely busy in the South Indian film industry with multiple projects at the time and was short on dates, he had somehow adjusted his schedule to work in Lagaan. However, Lagaan was simply not in his destiny. What happened was that the shooting dates for Lagaan shifted from the schedule Mukesh Rishi had initially provided. When new dates were requested from him, he had no room left to accommodate them because he had already committed those exact dates to his South Indian projects. Reluctantly, Mukesh Rishi had to step away from Lagaan, a decision that saddened him deeply. Since Aamir Khan had worked with both Mukesh Rishi and Pradeep Rawat in Sarfarosh, he had admired Pradeep Rawat's work ever since. Pradeep Rawat had played the character of Sultan in Sarfarosh. Therefore, when Mukesh Rishi had to leave Lagaan, Aamir Khan decided to cast Pradeep Rawat for the role of Deva. You have already read above what transpired after that.
