Today, I’m bringing back “Ode to Princeville” from Baby’s Baby Presents: My Story…The Saga Continues. Princeville, originally known as Freedom Hill, is the oldest town incorporated by African Americans in the United States. Built by formerly enslaved people, it’s a place of history, strength, pride, and resilience. Hurricane Floyd tried to wash Princeville away, but the people refused to let their history disappear! From Southern Terrace, where so many of my family and friends lived, to the loved ones we laid to rest, Princeville will always be part of my story. 🎶 “Went from Freedom Hill to Princeville, where so many of my family and friends live!” 🎶 You can take Baby’s Baby out of Tarboro and Princeville, but you can NEVER take Tarboro and Princeville out of Baby’s Baby!
