Let's meet our dj for episode 619, Kendal: Kendal started playing records back in Liverpool 20 years ago after spending her student loan on a pair of Gemini Scratch Master 5’s. Then “Miss Kendal”. She co-ran a night called ‘What is This’ and had a weekly residency at ‘The Magnet’ playing mostly tech and dark amens. She played regularly at Lakota and Black Swan in Bristol for ‘Finite’, record bag full of labels like Position Chrome, Offbeat, Renegade Hardware and Prspct. Now, Kendal is the head honcho of Midlands-based “Bloom”, booking the likes of Equinox, Bkey, Dom & Roland, Digital, Response and more over the last 14 years, bringing the underground sounds of Jungle and Drum & Bass to Derby. Kendal regularly represents ‘Violation Hard Drum & Bass’ and also made her debut at Jungle Syndicate in April, opening The Coroner’s Court. Kendal now mostly plays hard amens and darkness (with a bit of happy hardcore), and she has a regular slot on The Underground Lair radio. In her record collection you’ll find everything from DJ Hidden to FFF, SPL to Dub One…and to Distant Planet she’ll be bringing a bit of Footwork, Jungle, Hardcore…and more Jungle.
