The Kilaulea Iki trail is a 3-4 mile loop hike in Volcano National Park Hawaii Big Island in Hilo
We had an unforgettable experience on the Kīlauea Iki Trail when the volcano began erupting mid-hike. In this video, you'll see early-morning views of the eruption starting up. Shortly after, the activity intensified, sending lava debris flying, and park rangers evacuated everyone for safety. By then, we were safely outside the park gates and couldn't re-enter to view the biggest scene of the eruption.
