Seven ships. The oldest sailed in 1628. The youngest was lost in 1924. Roughly two and a half thousand people died, and not one of these ships was sunk by an enemy. Every one of them gave a warning first: a test stopped halfway through, a complaint someone wrote down, a pump that never stopped running, a man who asked for a drum to be beaten and was told no. Somebody always saw it. And the ships went on anyway. In this video we rank them by the one number that cannot be argued with: how many people did not come home. From the fewest to the most. The list will not go the way you expect. The Royal George section is a reconstruction from the records and the witnesses. Which of these warnings would you have acted on: the test, the complaint, the pump or the drum? Tell me in the comments, and tell me which ship I should rank next. #shipwrecks #maritimehistory #engineering
