I’m Learning My Father’s Native Language 🇲🇪 Montenegrin/Serbian(His Reaction Made It Worth It🤍)

*Open Me* I’m teaching myself my Montenegrin father’s native language using ONLY YouTube and free language-learning resources! 🇲🇪❤️ And once I learned my first few phrases, I decided to surprise my dad with what I’d been studying. In this video, I’m starting my journey learning Serbian/Montenegrin from home. I’m using free online lessons to study common phrases, practice memorization, test myself without looking at my notes, and see how much I can actually remember. But this is more than just learning a new language. My dad is Montenegrin, and his native language is a part of my family’s story that I want to connect with more deeply. So I FaceTimed him to reveal that I’ve been learning his language and share this little surprise with him. ❤️ 📚 WHAT I LEARNED IN MY FIRST LESSON • Common everyday phrases and basic expressions • How to study and memorize new vocabulary • How to test myself and practice recalling phrases without looking at my notes • Why listening, repetition, and consistent practice are important when learning a new language My next step is to learn the Montenegrin alphabet so I can start reading words for myself and improve my pronunciation instead of relying only on memorized phrases and approximations. I also want to become more comfortable recognizing the letters and sounds that make this language unique. I’m starting with free resources, YouTube lessons, and practice at home. No expensive courses, just curiosity, consistency, and a personal reason to keep going! 🌍 WHY I’M LEARNING LANGUAGES I love exploring different cultures and languages. I’m fluent in English and Spanish, have some knowledge of Urdu, and now I’m beginning this new chapter with my dad’s native language. I want to show that learning a language doesn’t have to start with an expensive course or a perfect plan. You can start right where you are, with the resources you have.
