In 1595, Mihai Viteazul faced the Ottoman army here in the famous Battle of Călugăreni. The Neajlov River, surrounding forests and difficult terrain played an important role in the battle and in Mihai Viteazul's strategy. Today, the landscape is much quieter. This walk takes us through the forest and along a place where nature and history meet — following the atmosphere of Călugăreni without disturbing its peaceful character.
