Alicent Hightower | Hate Myself

Long time no see AGAIN. This is my take on Alicent's analysis and I have been looking for a very fitting song for a long time, and then I remembered this video that I still love watching to this day :    • serena joy | I hate myself   And that was it. I knew exactly which scenes I was going to put over the lyrics as I listed to the song on repeat in my car. I chose not to add any text or overlays though, because I wanted to keep it simple and let the lyrics and scenes speak for themselves. I think they butchered her character this season, as they did for many characters. The real Alicent would never have willingly given away her hiding son's whereabouts to Rhaenyra or have him poisoned. Nor would she agree to have her eldest son's head taken. Even by Rhaenyra. I'm not an expert though, as I haven't read the books. But I did my research on how Alicent from the books is supposed to be and season 1 Alicent was the closest thing we got to book Alicent. I can understand her wanting to be free but I cannot fathom how she could agree with having her sons killed by Rhaenyra or anyone else. It doesn't make much sense and seems so far away from the original plot. She is a bad mom yes, but not to the point of helping the enemy kill them. I think, deep down, she loves her children. In her own fucked up way.
