Charlie Woods has spent his entire golf life in the shadow of the greatest player who ever lived — and in 2026, he finally started climbing out. In late May 2025, at the Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Resort, Charlie won his first AJGA Invitational with rounds of 70, 65 and 66 for a 15-under-par 201 total. He set a tournament birdie record with 26 birdies and one eagle, jumped from No. 604 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings to a projected top-20 spot, and earned fully exempt status. That August, he made a hole-in-one on the par-3 third at TPC Sawgrass during the Junior Players Championship. 2026 told the other half of the story. Charlie shot a 3-under 68 and won a 2-for-1 playoff at Heathrow Country Club just to qualify for his third US Junior Amateur. At Saucon Valley, he fought from six over par after five holes to five over through stroke play, drove the green for eagle on the 332-yard par-4 13th, and made a 14-for-2 playoff for the final match-play spots — only to bogey the first playoff hole and be eliminated. In September he finished tied for eighth at the Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, his best finish at that event. Off the course, he's a Florida State commit entering his senior year at Benjamin School, where he shot a four-under 68 to help win a Class 1A state title with Tiger Woods watching from the gallery.
