Cadwell Park – A Weekend at the British Nürburgring
What a weekend at Cadwell Park! An awesome track to drive, a seriously challenging track to race, and now I understand exactly why it’s known as the “British Nürburgring.”
Friday testing started well, but things quickly took a turn when the gearbox failed during the third session. The Misty Racing pit team worked incredibly hard to get a replacement gearbox fitted later that afternoon, but unfortunately, it meant I couldn’t complete testing or get my new race tyres properly bedded in.
Qualifying didn’t quite go to plan either. I was slow to get up to speed and, before I knew it, the session was over and I had only managed 16th on the grid. With the championship season drawing towards its conclusion, it wasn’t quite the starting position I was looking for.
Race 1 was all about putting my head down and finding a way through on this incredibly narrow circuit. After a strong start, I managed to fight my way forward and finish 12th overall. Considering how difficult Cadwell Park is to overtake on, I was really pleased with the result.
Race 2 delivered more of the same. I held my own throughout the race and came home in 12th once again, securing another solid result.
Overall, not a bad weekend for my rookie season. Two 12th-place finishes at one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar helped me maintain my position in the top 10 of the championship standings. Plus, it puts me back into 2nd place in the Rookies Championship.
