This game is really great for its age, so I thought I'd make a short comparison of two different methods of playing it. Both versions have their pros and cons. The PC version takes extra effort to set up properly, has issues launching sometimes, issues with controls resetting, issues with Alt+Tab, issues with scaling on my TV, and I think that's all. The PS1 version in the SwanStation core in RetroArch is very easy to set up, isn't limited to just the PC, and doesn't have any of the issues I just listed. The PC version looks cleaner, has higher quality textures, longer draw distance, lighting from headlights, some tree shadows, and runs twice as smooth. The PS1 has more pleasing lighting overall (at least to my eyes), noticeable reflections, and a much higher chance of being preserved throughout the generations due to it being emulation. It's amazing how well the game (on either platform) feels in the physics department compared to modern rally racers. God-tier programming.
