The 1.8.0 update for Mario Kart World added in two more rallies to Knockout Tour, the Propeller Rally (based on the Propeller Mushroom) and the Turnip Rally (based on the turnips from Super Mario Bros. 2), making it four Knockout Tours introduced after release and 12 rallies in all. This video will feature one Knockout Tour from each of those four post-release rallies, though I know it’s going to get harder and harder for me to even play new ones as they come out because the odds of finding them will get lower and lower unless they update something to skew the new ones in their favor. As a reminder, all races I play in Mario Kart World use the motion steering. I figure this is worth mentioning as it is the first Mario Kart World video I’ve put up since my Rhythm Heaven Groove coverage began. 00:00 - Rally #1 Turnip Rally: DK Pass, Cheep Cheep Falls, Peach Stadium, Choco Mountain, Wario Stadium, Shy Guy Bazaar Character: Birdo (Pro Racer) The Turnip Rally goes through some routes not normally taken going from racetrack to racetrack, including an east-to-west path down the pink brick road near Peach Stadium without going into the castle itself. You can tell I was not accustomed to this rally because I went the wrong way after the Choco Mountain checkpoint. There is also a nasty series of hairpin turns after the Wario Stadium checkpoint. As the only rally that passes by both stadiums (Peach Stadium and Wario Stadium), you can see how different they look, with being structures built partially for racing being the only thing they have in common. 08:21 - Rally #2 Propeller Rally: Acorn Heights, Boo Cinema, Dandelion Depths, Moo Moo Meadows, Toad’s Factory, Airship Fortress Character: Daisy (Swimwear) This is the only rally with Boo Cinema partway through: prior, only the Spiny Rally featured the location as a starting point, and none so far have it as an ending point. You enter through the docks furthest to the left (facing the building) and exit through the docks furthest to the left. I like how they made use of the structures in the swamp in front of Boo Cinema. It took m several tries to get a rally like this one. I usually fizzled out at Moo Moo Meadows. Two of my opponents were named “LOUD-BONE,” one of the interpretations of the original Japanese name for the Pokémon Skeledirge. 17:49 - Rally #3 Drill Rally: Wario Shipyard, DK Pass, Dandelion Depths, Mario Circuit, Dry Bones Burnout, Bowser’s Castle Character: Birdo (Pro Racer) This was actually fro the same session as Rally #1 in the video. I went to stop the recording, but by the time I returned to resume playing, the room had already been fully established and I didn’t have time to pick another character, so here is Birdo once again. She is, nevertheless, one of the rarest characters, so it’s unlikely I’d find another one even in a room of 24 (though there were 22 players in this one, with the AI controlling Pokey and Luigi filling in the remaining spots). That was also a precarious one with the Mario Circuit checkpoint, with the Chain Chomps rolling around and me hitting one. With how close it all was, that could’ve easily disqualified me. I also don’t do any of the fancy shortcuts some other people do while in Bowser’s Castle (I do shortcuts, but not as fancy), but what I did was enough to allow me to keep up. 27:37 - Rally #4 Boomerang Rally: Salty Salty Speedway, Cheep Cheep Falls, Moo Moo Meadows, Choco Mountain, Mario Bros. Circuit, Whistlestop Summit Character: Rosalina (Pro Racer) And finally, here is the Boomerang Rally. Perhaps it’s better to stay on land for the area leading up to the Cheep Cheep Falls checkpoint, but I don’t know. I pick the river because it’s less crowded there. Playing the Boomerang Rally more, I’ve found out that aggressive drivers love to activate their Mega Mushrooms on the narrow path bhind the waterfall because it’s hardest to escape from an attack there, even though the stretch of road further down has wide opn offroad paths for more efficient use of the Mega Mushroom. 36:56 - Battle #3 Balloon Battle Big Donut Character: Daisy (Vacation) And since I had a bit of time left and this match still sitting around on my computer from May, I added this in to the end of the video. I had overlooked checking who I was using in this video and wound up with a second match using Daisy. I didn’t initially pick this one because it wasn’t a Bob-omb Blast video, but I kept this one because I was one of only 6 players remaining at the end in a 16-player room (meaning over half of the room was eliminated).
