Steps ascend the hillside, leading upward. At the summit lies the shrine of the goddess Nachanchandi. As one climbs the stairs, the first sight is an idol of Hanuman, followed by a Shiva Linga((Kedareshwar)). Further up, one reaches the shrine of Nachanchandi herself. Beneath a tamarind tree sits a small stone idol of the goddess, surrounded by numerous terracotta horses smeared with vermilion-offerings made by local residents as part of their vows. A fair is held here during Dol Purnima, and the worship of Nachanchandi is celebrated with great pomp. Throughout the rest of the year, a priest (sevait) performs daily rituals at the shrine. The view from atop the Bisinda hill is enchanting. One could easily spend hours sitting there, and in the late afternoon, one can witness a magnificent sunset.
